Comprehensive acupuncture treats the person as an integrated whole in body, mind and spirit while targeting the root cause of illness and disease, not just the symptoms. Through manipulation and stimulation of the energy flow in the body, balance and health resurface from the depths of physical, mental and emotional chaos. An extensive intake includes assessment of a full medical history, current signs and symptoms, observation and palpation of the physical body, and various questions about lifestyle and habits.
Comprehensive acupuncture treatments can address various health concerns, identify the root of a specific condition, and/or promote overall immunity and wellness. This approach can incorporate various techniques like trigger point needling, tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis, cupping, gua sha, electroacupuncture, auricular acupuncture, Frequency Specific Microcurrent and Traditional Chinese Medicine point prescriptions to treat the underlying cause of the patient’s concerns. Treating the root of the disease or disorder will promote balance within the body to resolve multiple health issues. A comprehensive assessment will not only target the root cause and encourage the body’s innate ability to heal itself, but will also treat the symptoms so the patient can look forward to more immediate relief and relaxation. This holistic approach to treatment supports a stronger immune system and helps the body remain in a balanced state and become resilient against further disease, disorder and discomfort. Basically, by treating the whole body, you are building a fortress to withstand the struggles of the world.
The number of comprehensive treatments necessary to get the patient to the desired state of health depends on many factors: the chronicity of the pain/disorder, the compliance of the patient outside of the treatment room, the full disclosure of symptoms and medical history, etc. We work in full accord with the patient and their commitment to living a healthier life. We usually recommend starting treatments 1-2 times a week for a few weeks, followed up with maintenance treatments. However, acupuncture is so individualized – each patient is very different. We are here to collaborate on a plan to get each patient back to their healthiest self.
