Looking for a natural way to make your skin look younger and brighter? Cosmetic Acupuncture may be the perfect alternative or complement to your current anti-aging routine. Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a safe, natural, drug-free and effective way to rejuvenate your skin and keep you looking and feeling your best. It stimulates the facial tissue (or other areas of concern) to enhance the appearance and texture of the skin, but will also address the underlying cause of the undesirable skin issues.
An anti-aging treatment that improves your overall health and wellbeing, cosmetic acupuncture is a whole body treatment aimed at improving digestion, reducing stress, balancing hormones and increasing sleep quality, while also using facial needles to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. It is specifically designed to improve facial appearance by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving facial muscle tone, and rejuvenating dull, lifeless, or aging skin. Through the micro-stimulation of points on the face, natural collagen and elastin production is built up, leaving the face more supple and smooth. Cosmetic acupuncture can also be used to treat acne, rosacea, and dark circles under the eyes, as well as cellulite in other parts of the body.
During the intake, you will be asked about your concerns and goals for your treatment. We will also focus on targeted questions to help determine other internal imbalances. Beauty is the exterior manifestation of internal health—you never look your best when you are feeling unwell. During treatment, we may use a combination of acupuncture needles, Gua Sha and cupping to treat and target the areas of concern.
Facial Gua Sha and facial cupping is a simple and gentle massage technique that increases the circulation and lymphatic flow in your face. Facial Gua Sha is used as part of a comprehensive acupuncture facial rejuvenation program for wrinkles, sagging and puffiness. It can address areas prone to sagginess such as the neck and jowls. The increased blood circulation helps to detoxify the face and move stagnant blood and inflammation, which can occur under the eyes. Nutrients are drawn to the surface, and the skin is better nourished and healthier.
Gua Sha and cupping is also used on other parts of the body to minimize cellulite, mobilize scar tissue, improve the appearance of skin and increase blood flow to the area to promote healing, metabolism and balance. These benefits also enhance the absorption of lotions and serums to continue improving the healthy glow of your skin at home.
Treatments are 1 hour. Visible results can be seen after the first treatment. Dramatic and long lasting changes generally occur with a series of 10-12 sessions. We recommend beginning with acupuncture facial treatments 1-2 times a week. Then you can start the “maintenance stage,” where you get the treatment every four to eight weeks. The results are cumulative—how long it lasts depends on your status and if you are maintaining your health and skin according to recommendations.
