Are You Experiencing Knee Pain?

Common Causes of Knee Pain

The knee is called the “stupid joint” between the hip and the ankle because it gets injured when the true cause occurs at the hip/core, ankle or both.  Your knee is a complex joint with many components, making it vulnerable to a variety of injuries. Some of the most common knee injuries include fractures, dislocations, sprains, and ligament tears.  Physical therapy can be beneficial as an alternative to surgery, or is often recommended after recovering from arthroscopy or a more invasive knee replacement. This includes exercises and modalities – to help decrease your knee pain, increase strength and range of motion, and improve your overall mobility and stability. Physical therapy and acupuncture are common treatments for knee pain.

Common diagnoses that involve knee pain:

  • Ligament injuries (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL)
  • Fracture
  • Bursitis
  • Patellar tendonitis/tendinosis
  • Chondromalacia
  • Torn meniscus
  • Arthritis
  • Knee Replacement
  • Loose body
  • Plica syndrome
  • IT band syndrome
  • Patellar subluxation/dislocation
  • Mechanical problems
  • Postsurgical conditions
  • Myofascial scarring

Identify Contributing Factors & Find Relief

Our physical therapy program for knee pain involves identifying the mechanical cause, removing pain triggers, and improving posture, stability, mobility, strength & endurance. We utilize all of our CAMISA techniques to relieve pain and restore function: physical therapy, patient education, manual therapy, exercise, acupuncture, frequency specific microcurrent, myofascial decompression, and more. The specific methods used will vary from patient to patient as no patient is exactly the same.

At CAMISA, we also offer certified fitness trainers who help athletes train with the proper form and techniques to help avoid injury.
